BAR HARBOR—On Monday, August 14, Officer Caleb Mora conducted traffic control after had tree had fallen into the roadway until a good Samaritan with a chainsaw stopped and cut up the tree.

Officer Judson Cake responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle complaint but was unable to locate the vehicle.
Officer Nathan Formby handled a report of a possibly disabled automobile. He checked the area but could not locate the vehicle.
Officer Formby tried to locate the source of noise from a noise complaint but could not locate any loud noises.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford dropped off a Havahart trap at a local motel that was having issues with a stray cat.
Officer Elias Burne was assigned a motor vehicle compliant. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Burne responded to an animal complaint and determined that there was not an issue.
Sgt. Guildford came across a vehicle with a flat tire on the Eagle Lake Road. The vehicle did not have a spare tire and was towed to the owner’s residence.
Officer Burne assisted a man who had fallen off his skateboard.
Officer Jerrod Hardy handled a minor accident in which neither vehicle had sustained any damage.
Officer Tim Frost responded to a residence in Otter Creek because the resident was concerned that some items were missing. No further information was given.
Officer Hardy spoke to someone about a resident of an apartment complex who was not seen in the parking lot for a day. No disposition was given.
Officer Formby conducted a well-being check and determined the subject of the check to be intoxicated but otherwise fine.

Officer Formby responded to a report of a disturbance. Officer Formby was able to locate the source of the disturbance and put a stop to the issue.
Officer Ted Cake took a motor vehicle complaint, located the suspect vehicle, and made the driver aware of the complaint.
A local motel called the police department about a stray dog. The dog’s owner retrieved it from the motel.
Sgt. Guildford provided a ride to two elderly people from the MDI Hospital emergency room back to their cruise ship.
Officer T. Cake responded to a complaint of someone sitting too close to the roadway. Officer Cake spoke with the individual and got them to move.
Officer Burne conducted a well-being check and found that the person did not require any assistance.
An officer responded to Main Street for a motor vehicle complaint but could not locate the suspect vehicle.
An officer responded to the area of Everard Court for an animal complaint. No further information or disposition was given.
Andrew Drake, no age given, left his Nissan pickup, no year given, parked on West Street around 10:30 a.m. and when he came back at 4:30 p.m., he found that his mirror had been struck and was dangling from the door of this truck. Drake just wanted the incident on record.
Officer Formby conducted a well-being check, located the person, and determined that they were okay.
Officer Liam Harrington handled a report of an erratic driver. No further information or disposition was given.

Officer Troy Stanwood had contact with an intoxicated man. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Formby assisted the fire department with a non-criminal matter. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Stanwood responded to a complaint of a possibly intoxicated motorist. After locating the suspect vehicle, Officer Stanwood determined that the issue was not intoxication.
Officer Amie Torrey handled a complaint of a disabled dump truck blocking one lane of Eden Street. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Torrey took a compliant of a missing game camera.
Officer T. Cake was advised of some property damage but does not have any suspects as of August 15.
From the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office, the police department received a number of subpoenas to be served.
Officer Hardy handled a late report of a vehicle being backed into on Glen Mary Road. No further information or disposition was given.
An officer spoke with a woman about fraud and made a police report.
Officer Hardy responded to a loose dog complaint, but the owners of the dog were able to retrieve it before Officer Hardy’s arrival.
Officer Hardy gave two people a ride to their seasonal housing.

Officer T. Cake responded to a complaint of trespassing. The person located was transported to the hospital. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Mora took a report of a drone flying and determined that this is not a violation of law or town ordinance.
Officer Mora assisted another law enforcement agency in Southwest Harbor.

Phillip Steiner, 86, of Medford, Massachusetts was driving a black 2016 Toyota eastbound on the Eagle Lake Road. Karen James, 49, of Bar Harbor was driving her red 2013 Subaru eastbound on the same road. According to a report by Officer Timothy Bland, who was unable to investigate the crash on scene, Steiner then attempted to make a U-turn and hit James’ Subaru in the front driver’s side corner. Both cars sustained damages (Steiner’s to the front passenger side corner) and neither driver was reported as injured.
An officer retrieved a loose dog from the Gilbert Farm Road. The owners of the dog later picked it up at the police station.
An Acadia National Park ranger reported a vehicle traveling onto the island at a high rate of speed, but responding officers were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
A woman went to the police department to report a man acting suspiciously in the park, which was not named. Officers were unable to locate the man.

Pursuant to a traffic stop, Officer Stanwood arrested Cesar Peralta, 41, of Trenton, for alleged operating under the influence.
Officer Kaleb Payson assisted the Maine State Police with a domestic disturbance complaint in Tremont.
Officer Stanwood assisted another agency with checking on someone. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Guildford fingerprinted someone for employment purposes.
Officers assisted the fire department. No further information was given.
Officer Dickens assisted the fire department with someone who had fallen from their scooter in the area of Highbrook Road. The scooter operator received minor injuries and was transported to the MDI Hospital.
Officer Burne went to help a woman who was reported to be changing a tire on a vehicle but the vehicle was gone by the time that he arrived.
Officer Dickens checked areas known to be frequented by a juvenile whose parents had not heard from for two days but could not locate the juvenile. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Sundberg provided a ride for some local business employees.

Officer Payson handled a motor vehicle complaint, located the suspect vehicle, and warned the operator for their operation.
Pursuant to a traffic stop, Officer Stanwood arrested Coby Dangler, 23, of Waterville, for alleged operating under the influence.
Officer Lukas Keene fingerprinted someone for employment purposes.
Timothy Lewis, 21, of Sangerville, Maine, was driving a Toyota, no year given, east on Mount Desert Street when he allegedly “made contact with a pedestrian on a bicycle” that was in a crosswalk. The juvenile male “pedestrian on a bicycle” sustained minor injuries. There was no reported injury to Lewis, the vehicle, or the bicycle.
A man reported that items that he had ordered online were not delivered in Bar Harbor. Officer Mora advised the man to contact the business that he had purchased the items from.
Officer Mora helped reunite a lost child with his father.
Officer Dickens took a report of a suspicious person in the area of a local apartment complex. The reporting person asked that officers keep an eye on the area.
Officer J. Cake warned a man and a woman for trespassing. The man was also warned for disorderly conduct.

While on patrol, Officer Formby located an individual having a medical issue. Officer Formby requested an ambulance to respond.
Officer J. Cake arrested Gwendolyn Joy, 25, of Bar Harbor, for alleged operating under the influence and alleged criminal speed.
A local business requested that Officer Mora give two individuals criminal trespass warnings.
Officer Mora summonsed Misty Shepard, 48, of Bar Harbor, for alleged operating an unregistered vehicle.
Officer Burne reunited a lost dog with its owners. No further information was given.
Richard MacDonald, no age given, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2022 Ford Transit van on Main Street, no direction of travel given, when he struck the mirror of a parked 2014 Chevy Suburban while trying to move over for oncoming traffic. MacDonald self-reported to the police department and left his information on the windshield of the other vehicle. There was damage to the mirrors of both vehicles but no reported personal injury. As of August 19, the other vehicle operator had not contacted the police department.
After receiving a report of an intoxicated driver in Bar Harbor, Officer Mora located the suspect vehicle in Mount Desert and initiated a traffic stop. As a result, Alexandra Blain, 34, of Southwest Harbor, was arrested for alleged operating under the influence.
William C. Hoitink, 79, of Marietta, Georgia, was driving a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica south on Eden Street and was stopped in traffic. Robin O. Welliver, 66, of Chesapeake, Virginia, was driving a 2019 Nissan Sentra south on Eden Street, behind Hoitink and failed to stop, allegedly striking the rear of Hoitink’s vehicle. There were no reported personal injuries and both vehicles sustained minor damage. As a result of the accident investigation, Welliver was arrested by Officer Tim Bland for alleged operating under the influence.
Officer Bland responded to a complaint of an erratic driver. Officer Bland located the suspect vehicle and warned the driver for driving to endanger.
Officer Formby handled a complaint of a disorderly person. After investigation, it was determined that the person was having a mental health issue. They were given mental health resource information and went on their way.

Sgt. Guildford received a report of a GEM vehicle on the Shore Path but the vehicle was gone by the time he arrived.
Officer Hardy responded to a report of a verbal argument on West Street. It was determined to be a verbal argument between a father and his daughter.
Heather Kelly, 52, of Bar Harbor, reported that on August 19, 2023, she was driving her 2022 Subaru Impreza northeast on Norway Drive when she left the roadway to the right and struck a utility pole. There was no personal injury reported, but the vehicle suffered disabling damage to the front passenger corner. Kelly was summonsed by Officer Burne for alleged failure to report a motor vehicle crash by the quickest means.
Officer Hardy attempted to locate a driver who was tailgating and constantly beeping their horn but could not locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer Hardy performed a well-being check and found the person to be all set.
Officer Burne warned someone for drinking in public.
After receiving a report of a leak in a public restroom, Officer Hardy confirmed it and then notified the Bar Harbor Highway Department.
Officer Harrington took a report of harassing conduct. No further information or disposition was given.
