BAR HARBOR—According to a press release sent out Tuesday afternoon by Bar Harbor Finance Director and interim Town Manager, Sarah Gilbert the town is relaunching its search for a town manager.
The press release reads,
“The Bar Harbor Town Council is re-launching its search for a Town Manager. An initial search yielded strong candidates, but several applications were subsequently withdrawn. The Council consensus is to advertise the position, as well as advertising for an Interim Town Manager.
“Town Manager is a critical leadership role for our community. The Council aims to use the coming months, in conjunction with a search team, to identify the best candidate to fill the position.”
The search has been lead by David Barrett, director of personnel services and labor relations for Maine Municipal Association. It began after Town Manager Kevin Sutherland abruptly resigned in January.
Barrett had initially sorted the applications and sent some he deemed promising to the Town Council, which then proceeded to do interviews. The council had hoped to hire someone by the end of June.
The Council went into executive session on Wednesday evening and the search was the topic according to the meeting agenda. There was no vote after executive session other than on American Cruise Lines’ MOA amendment requests.
PAVING
