BAR HARBOR— On March 11, 2023, Officer Caleb Mora performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that was being operated by David Foss, 42, of Eddington. As a result of the traffic stop, Foss was arrested for and charged with alleged violation of conditions of release, alleged unlawful trafficking of schedule W drugs, and alleged displaying a fictitious certificate. A passenger in the vehicle, Corey Pelkey, 33, of Eddington was also arrested. Pelkey was arrested for and charged with alleged unlawful trafficking of schedule Z drugs and alleged violation of conditions of release. Both Foss and Pelkey were transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Further investigation added more charges to Foss’ list, including alleged unlawful trafficking of schedule Z drugs, alleged unlawful possession of methamphetamine, alleged unlawful possession of Fentanyl, alleged theft by receiving stolen property, alleged attaching false plates (motor vehicle registration plates), alleged failure to register a motor vehicle, and alleged operation of a defective motor vehicle.
The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.

Officer Troy Stanwood conducted a well-being check and found everything to be normal.
Captain David Kerns received information regarding a seasonal residence.
Gregg Tehennepe, 59, of Lamoine, was operating a 2012 Subaru Outback westbound on Route 3 when a deer walked into the roadway and was struck by Tehennepe’s vehicle. Tehennepe’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the front passenger’s side but Tehennepe was not injured. The disposition of the deer was not noted.

According to the police report, Mary Ann Handel, no age given, of Bar Harbor was operating a 2013 Mazda CX-5 on Sweet Fern Road when she attempted to go around a 2018 Freightliner bucket truck owned by a tree company and last operated by Blaine Davis, no age given, of Orono. The passenger side of Handel’s vehicle struck the driver’s side of the bucket truck. The bucket truck suffered scratches while Handel’s vehicle had reportable damage. There were no injuries to Handel and the previous occupants of the bucket truck were actively cutting trees at the time of the crash.
Officer Stanwood summonsed Stephen Smith, 76, of Eastbrook for alleged theft by unauthorized taking or transfer and issued a trespass warning after Smith was allegedly caught taking scrap metal from a business.
Officer Jerrod Hardy kept the peace at a residence while somebody collected their personal belongings.

Officer Theodore Cake received a late report regarding a motor vehicle complaint. The complaint is under investigation.
Officer Stanwood responded to a traffic complaint and placed cones around a moving truck because it was partially blocking the roadway.
Officer Timothy Bland assisted another agency in Bar Harbor.

Officer Bland assisted with a parking complaint.
Officer Bland responded to a different parking complaint, this time on Hancock Street and had the owner move the offending vehicle.
Officer T. Cake performed traffic control on Pretty Marsh Road until a tractor trailer that was stuck could get back underway.
Officer Stanwood performed a well-being check on a resident but could not make contact with the subject.
Officer Elias Burne handled a report of possible harassment which is still under investigation.
Officer Burne assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department.
During the course of a motor vehicle stop, Officer Caleb Mora was told about a possible probation and/or bail violation that occurred in another town. Officer Mora passed that information on to the appropriate agency.
Officer Mora assisted another agency that needed legal paperwork signed.

Officer Mora responded to a family matter that required no law enforcement action.
Officer Mora checked a Bar Harbor residence for a wanted person. The subject could not be located.
Officer T. Cake handled a theft complaint which is still under investigation.
Officer Stanwood conducted a traffic stop after receiving a complaint regarding the erratic operation of a motor vehicle. No action was taken pursuant to the traffic stop.
Sgt. Soren Sundberg assisted with a medical complaint.

Pursuant to the stop of a motor vehicle, Officer Stanwood arrested Cory Danielson, 28, of Old Town. Stanwood was arrested for alleged violation of conditions of release and alleged operating after suspension and was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
A found cellphone was turned in to the police department.
A set of Dodge Ram keys that had been found in the area of Waldron Road was turned in to the police department.
After performing a bail check on Joshua Spataro, 23, of Bar Harbor, Officer Liam Harrington issued Spataro a summons for alleged violation of conditions of release.
