BAR HARBOR— The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.
On Wednesday, Gary A. Miller (no age given), of Bar Harbor was operating a 2022 Freightliner tractor trailer carrying an oversized load southbound on Route 102. Part of the equipment that was overhanging the trailer struck a utility pole at the intersection of Route 102 and Knox Road severing and breaking a utility pole. Mr. Miller was not injured.
Officer Jerrod Hardy assisted Versant Power with traffic control while they replaced the utility pole that was broken in the incident.

Lt. Kevin Edgecomb responded to the Bar Harbor harbormaster’s office for a complaint of juveniles climbing on the roof of the adjacent public restrooms. The reporting party had spoken to the juveniles and they had climbed down and left the area before Lt. Edgecomb could arrive.
Less than half an hour later, Lt. Edgecomb and Officer Elias Burne went to a trespassing complaint at the West Street Hotel. Two male juveniles were located, warned for criminal trespass, and then left the area.
Officer Burne handled a harassment complaint in town.
Officer Burne performed a well-being check on a subject in Bar Harbor.

Officer Christopher Dickens conducted a traffic stop on West Street and the operator of the motor vehicle was warned for two violations.

Sgt. Leigh Guildford spoke to a person, in the Bar Harbor Police Department’s lobby, who was the victim of a scam.
Robert Chaplin, 83, of Bar Harbor was backing his 2022 Kia Sportage, out of the parking lot of the Mosaic Salon and backed into a vehicle that was allegedly illegally parked. The parked vehicle was a Toyota Rav4 last operated by Rebekah Sartin, 42, of Mount Desert. The damage to both vehicles was minor and non-reportable and there were no injuries.
A motorist reported a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner and making bad passes. Officers could not locate the offending vehicle.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett responded to a motor vehicle complaint in the area of School Street and Pleasant Street.

Chase Brown (no age given), of Bar Harbor was operating a 2015 GMC Sierra and traveling westbound on Eagle Lake Road when the vehicle started to slide on the snowy roadway and struck the rear end of a 2014 Buick Lacrosse that was being operated by Walter Linnville (no age given), of South Carolina. Mr. Linnville’s Buick received reportable damage to the front driver’s side quarter panel and there were no injuries.
Officer Troy Stanwood responded to a vehicle which had slid off the road on Eagle Lake Road due to contributing weather conditions. The vehicle sustained no damage and was pulled back onto the roadway by a tow truck.
Sgt. Guildford gave a person a ride home from the MDI Hospital.
Officer Burne handled a parking problem in town.

Officer Theodore Cake located a vehicle parked along the side of Cromwell Harbor Road with no operator in the area. Officer Cake attempted to contact the vehicle’s owner but could not find any contact information. There was a concern that the vehicle would be in the way of the snowplows, but the vehicle was gone when Officer Cake returned to check on it.
Officer Burne conducted a harassment investigation that resulted in no charges being filed.

Nora Holloway, 56, of Bar Harbor was operating a 2018 Subaru Outback eastbound on Norway Drive when the vehicle slid off the roadway due to slippery road conditions and struck a tree. Ms. Holloway was not injured but the vehicle suffered significant front-end damage. The vehicle was able to be driven back to the owner’s residence.
