BAR HARBOR— The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.

Officer Troy Stanwood responded to a loud noise complaint in Bar Harbor. The business was asked to turn down the music and complied.
Officer Stanwood took a report of disorderly conduct in Bar Harbor. The complaint was unfounded.
On August 7th, 2023, pursuant to a traffic stop, Officer Stanwood arrested Stephanie Prokop, 34 of Ottawa, Canada, for alleged operating under the influence. She was transported and booked into the Hancock County Jail.
Jefferson Dobbs, 73, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2019 GMC Terrain east on Cottage Street behind a 2023 Chevy Tahoe, operated by Tammy Thurlow, 47, of Bar Harbor. Dobbs was attempting to turn right onto Greeley Avenue when Thurlow slowed for traffic and Dobbs’ vehicle allegedly struck the rear of Thurlow’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury and both vehicles suffered minor but reportable damage.
Lt. Kevin Edgecomb fingerprinted two individuals for employment purposes.
Someone called in a complaint of a vehicle being operated poorly heading off the island. All units were out of position and the complaint was passed on to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
Interim Chief/Captain David Kerns responded to a panic alarm at a local business. There was a dispute about services and the customer was asked to leave. When Kerns arrived on scene the customer left without incident.
Lloyd Taylor, 31, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek west on Route 3 behind a 2011 Subaru Outback operated by Phineas Urey, 18, of Camden, Maine. Taylor allegedly ran into the back of Urey’s vehicle and allegedly did not stop at the scene. There was no personal injury reported and both vehicles sustained moderate damage. Taylor was summonsed for alleged leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Officer Liam Harrington assisted the Southwest Harbor Police Department.
Officer Amie Torrey responded to a local restaurant who called to report a male being disorderly and wanted him to be issued a no trespassing warning. No further information was given.
Officer Torrey took a report from a local business that called to report a theft of items in their store. No further information was given.
Officer Ted Cake was advised of a non-reportable crash that occurred on private property. Officer Cake facilitated the exchange of information between both parties.
Officer Chris Dickens travelled to the Hancock County Unified Court to have an involuntary committal form signed by a judge.
Hannah Mishler, 31, of Bemidji, Minnesota, was driving a 2018 Toyota Highlander and making a left-hand turn from Main Street onto Firefly Lane. Douglas Mills, 62, of Waldoboro, Maine, was driving a 2021 Ford coach bus and making a right-hand turn from Firefly Lane onto Main Street. During the course of the vehicles turning, the rear of Mills’ bus allegedly hit the rear of Mishler’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury and Mishler’s vehicle sustained reportable and functional damage to the driver’s side rear.
Officer Judson Cake responded to a report of a disorderly individual. Officer Cake was unable to locate the suspected disorderly person.

Officer T. Cake was advised of a man protesting near a business in Bar Harbor. After he arrived at the business and spoke with an employee at the establishment, it was determined that the man protesting was not violating any laws and that he was exercising his First Amendment rights.
Officer T. Cake assisted someone with having their fingerprints taken.
Officer T. Cake attempted to serve a subpoena, but the recipient was not home at the time.
Officer T. Cake checked on a person in Bar Harbor. The person was checked by medical staff and declined any further treatment.
Someone reported a suspicious male that they had seen earlier in the day.
Wyatt Beal, 64, of Tremont, was driving a 2011 Ford pickup and was turning left from Blueberry Way onto Route 102, heading south. Curtis Cooke, 81, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, was driving a 2011 Lexus SUV south on Route 102 and allegedly struck Beal’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury. Beal’s vehicle sustained minor damage and Cooke’s vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
Officer J. Cake assisted someone with a vehicle issue.
An officer responded to the area of Bridge Street for a report of a suspicious person. No further information was given.

Officer Stanwood arrested Stephen Merritt, 49 of Ellsworth for alleged operating without a license. Merritt was issued a summons to appear in court at a later date, then released.
Officer Stanwood responded to a verbal argument between two people in Acadia National Park. No further information was given.
Officer Caleb Mora took a motor vehicle complaint but the complainant did not know where the offending car was so no follow up could be conducted.
Officer Mora investigated a delayed report of an assault. Following the investigation, Jennifer Raess, 50, of Pennsylvania, was summonsed for alleged assault.
Marjorie Greene, 61, of Bar Harbor, was operating a 2023 Vespa moped west on Crooked Road when she crossed both travel lanes, left the roadway, and struck a signpost. Greene had some facial abrasions and the Vespa had some scratches.
Officer T. Cake was advised of a non-reportable crash that occurred on private property. After facilitating the exchange of information between parties, Officer T. Cake cleared.
A man reported striking the mirror of a parked vehicle with his vehicle. That man’s information was gathered by Officer T. Cake. Officer Cake left a business card on the parked vehicle.
Someone reported the mirror had been hit on their vehicle while it was parked in Bar Harbor.
Officer Elias Burne responded to a traffic hazard and removed the hazard from the roadway.
Lt. Edgecomb served court paperwork to someone.
Officer Dickens took a report from an individual regarding harassment via social media messages.
Lt. Edgecomb responded to a restaurant for a threatening complaint. As a result, a male subject was asked to leave. He left peacefully.
Officer Dickens spoke with an individual who had witnessed a bicycle crash on Mount Desert Street.
Officer Tim Bland handled a report of vandalism. No further information was given.
Officer Burne responded to a report of gun shots and located a residence setting off fireworks. They were asked to stop.
Officer Stanwood assisted the Southwest Harbor Police Department on a traffic stop.
Officer Stanwood took a report of fireworks that were determined to be from a wedding, and the people involved were advised of the town ordinance and told not to continue.
Pursuant to a traffic stop, Officer Stanwood arrested Kylie Tozier, 27, of Bar Harbor, for alleged operating under the influence.

Officer Kaleb Payson responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Through investigation, it was learned that the argument was verbal only and no crime had been committed.
Officer Payson observed an alcohol offense taking place. Subsequently, three people were warned for drinking in public and an establishment was warned for allowing liquor to be taken off the premises.
Officer T. Cake assisted with a medical call.
Officer T. Cake was advised of a crash that occurred on private property. After facilitating the exchange of information between parties, Officer T. Cake cleared.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford checked the Newport Lot for parking issues, specifically people moving cones from parking spots already blocked off. He drove through and found no issues.
Hayden M. Nutter, 19, of Corinth, Maine, was driving a 2018 Hyundai Elantra south on Route 3 and was behind Eric A. Oak, 32, of Framingham, Massachusetts, who was operating a 2018 Toyota Tacoma. Oak had to stop for people in a crosswalk and allegedly Nutter ran into the rear of Oak’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury. Oak’s vehicle suffered rear end damage and Nutter’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
Officer T. Cake performed a well-being check on someone and found them to be fine.
Stefan Gscheil, 80, of Maine, was driving a 2020 Jeep northbound on Route 3 when he allegedly attempted to turn into the southbound lane. Anthony Scirbona, 36, of Maine, was driving a 2017 Jeep southbound on Route 3 and was allegedly hit by Gscheil’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury but both vehicles were totaled and had to be towed.
Officer Burne conducted a well-being check on someone. No further information was given.
Officer Stanwood took a report of a missing child. The child was found within five minutes and returned to the safety of her parents.
Officer Stanwood took a report of a verbal argument in the parking lot of a business. As a result, three men were warned for disorderly conduct.
Someone called in a motor vehicle complaint. No further information was given.
Officer Tim Bland responded to a suspicious motor vehicle complaint. No further information was given.
Officer Stanwood took a report of soliciting. The report was unfounded.
Officer Stanwood responded to a report of sports cars speeding on Schooner Head Road. He was unable to locate the vehicles, and the complaint was passed on to the Acadia National Park rangers.
Officer Nathan Formby gave someone a ride.
Officer Stanwood handled a report of an intoxicated person but was unable to locate that person.

While on patrol, Officer Stanwood observed two tents at the Park Street baseball fields. Officer Stanwood contacted the people inside the tents and made them aware of the town ordinance and they were moved along.
Sgt. Guildford checked on a lady walking on Route 3. No further information was given.
An officer gave a woman a ride from Hull’s Cove to her residence in town.
Officer Stanwood took a complaint of a possible domestic problem in a motor vehicle and after contacting the occupants, he determined that it was just a verbal disagreement.
Officer Stanwood responded to a report of suspicious activity. Officer Stanwood assisted the complainant with locating a device and it was taken as evidence. No further information was given.
