Bar Harbor Shooter To Spend Two Years In Prison

BAR HARBOR—According to a report in the Ellsworth American by Jennifer Osborn, Spencer Stone, 22, of Mariaville will spend two years in prison after a plea deal. Police report that Stone had shot a .45-caliber handgun multiple times at a sports utility vehicle in a Bar Harbor neighborhood just before 10 p.m. on November 12, 2021.
In the car was an 8-year-old child and the girlfriend of a man who repossesses cars. Stone had been indicted in February 2022 for attempted murder and multiple other charges. There had been bullets located inside of the car.
Stone plead guilty to multiple charges including two counts of reckless conduct with a firearm. He received a sentence of five years in prison. Three years are suspended. He must also be on probation for two years once he leaves the prison.
The Bar Harbor following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.

Robert Grover, no age given, was driving a 2013 Nissan Frontier southbound on the Indian Point Road. Grover’s vehicle lost traction due to snow on the road, crossed the northbound lane, and went into the ditch, striking a tree on the driver’s side of the vehicle. There were no injuries reported and the vehicle suffered reportable damage but was driven away after a wrecker pulled it out.
Lt. Kevin Edgecomb and Officer Judson Cake assisted another agency with an investigation.
Officer Troy Stanwood responded to a medical facility for a disorderly subject who was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital.
A loose dog was reported on West Street. The dog was returned to its owner by Officer Jerrod Hardy. The owner stated that it must have jumped out of one of the house windows.
Officer Jerrod Hardy assisted MDI Hospital with protective custody paperwork.
Officer Troy Stanwood transported a subject to the hospital for an evaluation after the Bar Harbor Police department received an overdose complaint.

Following a traffic stop, Officer Kaleb Payson arrested Sara Alley, 37, of Bar Harbor, for allegedly operating under the influence and transported her to the Hancock County Jail.
Officer Judson Cake transported a resident back to their house.
Daniel Johnson, 71, of Mount Desert, operating a 2017 Toyota Prius and Ronald Wrobel, 65, of Bar Harbor, operating a 2016 Jeep Cherokee were both backing their vehicles out of a parking lot on Rodick Street and backed their vehicles into each other. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and there were no reported injuries.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford spoke with an elderly resident regarding some ongoing issues.
The Bar Harbor Police Department received a late report of a vehicle operating erratically but was not able to locate the vehicle on the roadway.
The Bar Harbor Police Department received a request for information from an outside agency.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett assisted the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department with a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 102 in Bar Harbor.

Officer Jerrod Hardy assisted MDI Hospital with involuntary committal paperwork.
Officer Elias Burne conducted a well-being check and found the subject to be unharmed.
Sloan Murray, 36, of Bar Harbor, was arrested on multiple arrest warrants and transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Officer Jerrod Hardy assisted another agency with the service of a written no trespass notice.
The Bar Harbor Police Department took a report of a vehicle making unsafe passes.

The Bar Harbor Police Department received a 911 hang-up call that showed the phone as pinging off a cell tower on Rt. 3. No other calls were received and no issues could be found in the area upon investigation.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford issued Debra MacQuinn, 65, of Bar Harbor, a summons for theft for allegedly shoplifting from the Bar Harbor Hannafords.
The Bar Harbor Police Department received a complaint of a cable in the roadway along Rt. 3. The Department of Transportation was contacted and removed the cable.
Officer Theodore Cake contacted the owner of two dogs and made them aware that a pedestrian had found their dogs running loose and that the pedestrian had let the dogs back into the owner’s residence.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford assisted a subject with a vehicle issue.
Officer Jerrod Hardy issued a warning to a driver for a traffic violation.

Lt. Kevin Edgecomb and Officer Judson Cake checked on an open-door complaint. They found no one inside the building and secured the door.

Officer Troy Stanwood assisted with a broken-down vehicle on Rt. 3. A tow company was contacted by the owner and the vehicle was removed.
Officer Chris Dickens responded to a report of a vehicle operating erratically on Rt. 3.
