Design Review Board Makes Quick Work of Harborside, MDI Hospital, and Brassiere le Brun Requests
BAR HARBOR—In a nine-minute meeting, four members of the Design Review Board deemed three different projects appropriate Thursday night. Chair Barbara Sassaman and Vice Chair Pancho Cole were at the Bar Harbor Municipal Building for the meeting. Kate Mako and Secretary Andrea Lepcio attended via Zoom. Mike Rogers was absent. There are two vacancies on the board. All votes were taken via hands and not in roll call.
MDI HOSPITAL
The sign located at 10 Wayman Lane, Scott Malone said, is confusing to patients and visitors. Malone was representing the hospital, which wants to remove it from the building’s corner and place it at the MRI entrance instead. The Design Review Board agreed that this complied with town ordinance.
HARBORSIDE HOTEL
The board deemed the relocation of a retail building and addition of a round blade sign for Acadia Gem at 55 West Street appropriate. Perry Moore represented the Golden Anchor LLC at the meeting. The LuLu ticket booth was moved to expand the pedestrian area.
The board members noted that the bottom of the sign had to be 10 feet above the ground.
BRASSERIE LE BRUN
Kathleen Dougan represented the new restaurant at 74 Cottage Street. She expects a June 15 opening.
They will open a bakery in the fall, she told interested board members. The wooden pole that is already installed will support the sign, which was deemed appropriate.
