SOUTHWEST HARBOR—Janet Elvidge is hosting a Discover Seaweed Day at the Pemetic Elementary School library for students to discover seaweed and subjects related to it on Tuesday, April 15.
The public is also encouraged to attend between noon and 1 p.m. Maine Coast Sea Vegetables and University of Maine Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program will be there as well as Acadia National Park educator Caroline Moore. The community is welcome during this time slot to stop by and check out the seaweed touch tank, eat a seaweed snack, make a seaweed lava lamp, add to the intertidal mural, and learn about Maine aquaculture and the environmental benefits of seaweed.
A special thanks goes to the Emery Science Grant and the wonderful school community, Elvidge said.
