BAR HARBOR— Car vs. pedestrian accidents and driving offenses lead the way this week.
The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.
Monday, March 13, 2023
Officer Troy Stanwood responded to a report of a distracted driver who was in Mount Desert, but he was unable to locate the vehicle.
Following a motor vehicle stop, Officer Stanwood summonsed Mariah Ryan, 29, of Trenton, for allegedly operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
Officer Stanwood assisted a local business that had a vehicle illegally parked in its parking lot. The owner could not be located, so a note asking to please move the vehicle was placed on the vehicle.
Several photographs were located at a local bank and were given to an officer.
The police department received a report of a lost iPad.
Tuesday, March 14, 2023
Officer Judson Cake responded to a report of erratic operation of a motor vehicle. When Officer Cake located and stopped the suspect vehicle, the driver said that he had dropped his cellphone. The driver was warned for using his cellphone while operating a motor vehicle.
Officer Timothy Bland assisted another agency with paperwork.
Officer Cake assisted at the school crossing.
Officer Jerrod Hardy provided a landlord with resources concerning ongoing issues with a tenant.
Officer Stanwood responded to a report of a vehicle that had slid off the roadway. The operator of the vehicle was able to get the vehicle back on the roadway without assistance, and there was no damage to the vehicle.
Officer Christopher Dickens helped out a motorist who was not able to negotiate the snow-covered Route 102.
A resident reported power lines that were down near his home on Glen Mary Road. Upon response, Officer Hardy discovered that they were cable wires and made the cable provider aware of the situation.
Officer Hardy took a complaint that the traffic lights at the head of the island were not functioning. It was determined that this was due to a power outage in the area and Versant and the Maine Department of Transportation were made aware.
Officer Hardy conducted a well-being check on a subject at the request of a family member. The subject was found to be fine.
A renter of an Airbnb reported that someone was throwing snowballs at the house. Officer Hardy spoke to a male subject who was located in the area. The subject admitted to throwing snowballs but stated that he was not throwing them at the house.
Wednesday, March 15, 2023
Officer Amie Torrey responded to a report of fireworks. Officer Torrey was able to locate the empty fireworks containers, but there was no longer anyone around the area.
Officer Torrey took a report of a door that was open at a hotel and secured the door.
On March 15, Officer Judson Cake took a report of a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian on March 14. Heather Tunison, 40, of Mount Desert, was driving a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek eastbound on the Indian Point Road when an unnamed female pedestrian who was walking down the side of the road allegedly walked into the roadway to cross, in front of Tunison’s vehicle. The unnamed female suffered minor injuries and the vehicle had no damage.
Officer Stanwood responded to a report that traffic lights in Bar Harbor (location not given) were stuck on red. Officer Stanwood reset the lights and put them in yellow flashing mode until after the snowstorm.
Officer Hardy received a referral from the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office regarding a suspected sex offense. The case is under investigation.
Therisa Barton, 37, of Trenton, was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV4 when she started turning right from Ash Street onto Pleasant Street. Barton allegedly struck an unnamed male subject at the corner. The unnamed male was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and the vehicle had no damage.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett summonsed Ethan Sosa, 18, of Bar Harbor for allegedly passing a stopped school bus with lights flashing.
An officer assisted a motorist with a disabled motor vehicle on Eden Street. The vehicle was pushed out of the roadway to a safe location while the operator made arrangements to have it towed.
Thursday, March 16, 2023
Officer Caleb Mora responded to a 911 call about a possible medical issue. The subject agreed to be examined by ambulance personnel.
The Bar Harbor Police Department received a subpoena from the Hancock County District Attorney’s Office to be served on a subject who resides in Seal Harbor.
Officer Soren Sundberg attempted to serve a subpoena.
Officer Bland investigated a motor vehicle complaint.
Officer Sundberg summonsed Azria Barrett, 22, (no hometown given), for allegedly operating without a license.
Friday, March 17, 2023
Officer Torrey investigated a report of suspicious activity outside of a residence but could not locate anyone in the area upon arrival.
Someone reported a sewer cover had come dislodged on Route 3. The Bar Harbor Sewer Department took care of the issue.
Lt. Kevin Edgecomb provided traffic and crowd control at a large funeral taking place at the Church of Our Father in Hulls Cove.
Officer Stanwood took a report of a theft at a residence. The complaint turned out to be civil in nature and Officer Stanwood documented the alleged theft at the complainant’s request.
Southwest Harbor Police Department gave some information to Officer Hardy.
Saturday, March 18, 2023
Officer Mora warned a female subject for drinking in public.
Officer Liam Harrington assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department at a medical call.
Officer Stanwood responded to the MDI Hospital to assist staff with a combative patient.
Following the stop of a motor vehicle, Officer Stanwood summonsed Cullen Bahr, 37, of Bar Harbor, for allegedly operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and issued Bahr multiple other traffic citations.
Officer Stanwood responded to a residence for a report of a medical issue.
Sgt. Brundrett spoke with a resident about suspicious activity on Stony Brook Way.

Officer Judson Cake escorted a subject to get their personal belongings.
Camalyne Mondragon, 31, of Bar Harbor, was summonsed by Officer Mora for allegedly operating a motor vehicle after suspension.
Officer Dickens conducted multiple security checks at Route 3 businesses after they were closed.
