First Time Hitchhiking Solo and Leslie Spellman Never Made It Back Home
Parts One and Two Dude No!
Editor’s Note: We at the Bar Harbor Story also have recently created a true crime and macabre podcast called DUDE, NO, and sometimes the worlds of Bar Harbor news (and Hancock County) and true crime or the macabre overlap. To be fair, this will probably only occasionally.
We know that some people have absolutely no interest in listening to a podcast! No worries. We get it. But if you do, here is the second one that has to do with the place where we live. Be warned though, the podcast has a decidedly different feel than our news stories, which is why we are hesitant to share it here, too. It is not impartial. It’s a bit goofy and raw and there will be cussing.
Stay safe and only happy news for you!
There’s something so tempting about national parks, tempting and sometimes dangerous. The big vistas of nature tend to lend themselves to both mishaps and murder. Join us as we talk about the death of 27-year-old yoga instructor, Leslie Spellman. Leslie’s murder happened on the Maine island where we live and I used to have a newspaper editor boss who was absolutely obsessed with her death.

PART TWO
Last week we started our two-part series about Leslie Spellman, a young woman on a hiking adventure whose body was found in a garden on the island where we live in Maine back in the 1970s and this week we continue that story with a little more detail. We don’t feel like we did it justice.
This is the second part of our story on Leslie E. Spellman, a Massachusetts woman who hitchhiked to Acadia on her first solo hitchhiking camping adventure and never made it back home.
