Motorists Appear to Have Trouble Staying on the Road
BAR HARBOR—On July 18, Gabriel Huckins-Crossman, 20, of (no town given) Maine, was driving a 2007 Pontiac Vibe east on the Crooked Road when he allegedly lost control and the vehicle left the roadway. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed due to disabling damage. Huckins-Crossman was issued a summons for alleged failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
On July 21, Philip W. Corson, 59, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2017 Ford F-150 south on Old Norway Drive when his truck allegedly left the roadway and struck a utility pole. There was no personal injury reported, but both the pole and the vehicle suffered disabling damage.
The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.

Officer Ted Cake investigated a report of some suspicious activity. No charges were filed as a result.
Officer Amie Torrey handled a tenant complaint at an apartment building. The complaint was deemed to be civil in nature.
Officer T. Cake is investigating a report of a possible theft.
Officer Torrey assisted the MDI Hospital with getting some paperwork signed.
Konnor S. Williams, 23, of Orrington, Maine, was driving a 2017 GMC Express north on Main Street when he allegedly hit the driver’s side mirror of a 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan that was parked in a parking spot on Main Street and was last operated by Shannon M. Hennessey, 31, of New Sharon, Maine. There was no reported injury. The Express van suffered minor damage to the passenger’s side door and the Volkswagen had a damaged driver’s side mirror.
An officer responded to the head of the island in reference to a motor vehicle complaint in Trenton received from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
A 2021 Chrysler Pacifica that was last operated by Derek K. McQuiston, 32, of Florida, was parked in a parking spot on West Street and had its driver’s side mirror hit by an unknown vehicle.
Officer Kaleb Payson responded to a report of fireworks but could not locate the source of the fireworks.
Officer Judson Cake responded to a suspicious activity complaint but could not locate any suspicious activity.

Officers responded to a motor vehicle complaint but could not locate the suspect vehicle.
Lt. Kevin Edgecomb checked on a female on Cottage Street. Lt. Edgecomb determined that she was fine.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford fingerprinted someone for employment purposes.
Sgt. Guildford spoke with a person who wanted to pass on some information.
Sgt. Guildford attempted to perform a wellbeing check on a person but could not locate them.
Officer Chris Dickens responded to a request for a wellbeing check on a person at a local business.
Officer Tim Bland handled a complaint of people in a roadway.
Officer Dickens took a report of suspicious activity on Park Street.
Officer Dickens responded to a report of a fight between two dogs that occurred on the Shore Path.
An officer spoke to a resident about a civil matter.
Officer Dickens served a resident civil paperwork on behalf of the Town of Bar Harbor.
Stephen Swensrud, 24, of Bethesda Maryland, was driving a 2015 BMW west on Mount Desert Street when he allegedly struck the rear of a 2005 Subaru Legacy that was being operated by Celeste Crowley, 24, of Sedona, Arizona. Crowley was stopped at the stop light at the time of the collision. There were no reported injuries and both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Officer Troy Stanwood gave someone a ride home.

Sgt. Guildford fingerprinted someone for employment purposes.
Sgt. Guildford gave a person a ride home after that person was treated at MDI Hospital.
Erik Hansen, 39, of Bar Harbor, was operating a 2022 Volkswagen and attempting to pull into a parking space in front of the post office and allegedly struck a 2023 Nissan that was parked and last operated by Benjamin Lundin, 38, of Washington DC. No injuries were reported and there was minor damage to the Nissan.
Officer Elias Burne responded to a dispute between multiple people. All of the people agreed not to speak with each other again and no charges were filed.
Officer Bland checked on the welfare of someone.
Officer Burne took a complaint of an abandoned vehicle. He was able to make contact with the owner who agreed to retrieve the vehicle the following day.
Sgt. Soren Sundberg provided information regarding an investigation to an outside agency.
Officer Payson handled a parking complaint and got the involved people to move their vehicles.
Pursuant to a traffic stop, Officer Payson issued a summons to Samara Morsby, 22, of Ellsworth, for alleged operating without a license. Rodney Candage, 65, of Ellsworth was also summonsed for alleged permitting unlawful use.

Officer Payson addressed a town ordinance violation.
Officer Payson investigated a noise complaint and determined that it was unsubstantiated.
Officer T. Cake assisted another agency with a wellbeing check in Tremont.
Sgt. Guildford responded to a suspicious person complaint and determined that everything was okay.
A dog that had been found wandering around town was brought in to the police station and was later reunited with its owner.
Officers responded to a report of a possible domestic incident taking place in the area of Island Woods Road but could not locate anything of concern.
Officer Stanwood investigated a complaint of a barking dog which he determined was unsubstantiated.
Officer Burne assisted another agency in Southwest Harbor.
The police department received a report that there was something going on at the town pier but due to a language barrier, they could not determine what was happening. Officer J. Cake later determined that it had something to do with a jet ski being operated in the area. The owner of the jet ski was loading their craft when Officer J. Cake made contact and there were no additional issues.

Officer Nathan Formby provided a ride to two people.
Officer J. Cake arrested Nolan Dickens, 21, of Bangor, for alleged operating under the influence and summonsed him for alleged operating after suspension.
Officer Stanwood gave someone a ride home.
Officer Caleb Mora arrested Jamin Keene, 28, of Bar Harbor, for alleged domestic assault. Keene was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Officer Formby and other officers responded to a family fight. No charges were filed.
Officer Formby received a request to perform a wellbeing check on someone who eventually made contact with their family and was determined to be okay.
Sgt. Guildford responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint, but the vehicle was gone by the time he arrived.
Sgt. Guildford investigated a complaint that a man was going on to private properties handing out flyers regarding a missing cat. Sgt. Guildford was unable to locate the man.
Sgt. Guildford provided a man a ride back to his residence.
Officer Mora received a complaint of a road rage incident but the suspect vehicle information was very limited and he could not locate it.
Officer Burne performed a wellbeing check.
Officer Burne responded to an animal problem.
Officer Burne investigated a complaint of a dog being inside of a closed business. The dog was in the business with the owner of both the dog and the business.
Officer Burne performed a wellbeing check and found there to be no issues.
Officer Formby took a report of a disorderly person and warned them for disorderly conduct.

Officer Formby responded to a noise complaint, located the source of the noise, and got it quieted down.
Officer Jerrod Hardy is investigating a complaint that someone felt that they were being harassed by another person who was speaking to them in a foreign language.
Pursuant to a traffic stop, Sgt. Doug Brundrett arrested Nicholas Russo, 29, of Pigsah Forest, North Carolina, for alleged operating under the influence.
