BAR HARBOR—On May 4, in coordination with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency, Officer Troy Stanwood arrested Darrell Firestone, 40, of Gadsden, Alabama, for being an alleged fugitive from justice. Firestone was booked into the Hancock County Jail where he awaits extradition to Alabama.
The following incidents occurred in Bar Harbor last week according to the Bar Harbor police log, which is publicly released information.

Officer Kaleb Payson assisted the Southwest Harbor Police Department with a domestic dispute.
Officer Liam Harrington took a report of a tree blocking a roadway.
Officer Stanwood performed a well-being check on a resident.
The police department took multiple calls concerning a tree on a powerline on Indian Point Road and referred it to Versant Power.
Officer Troy Stanwood summonsed Timothy Haberern, 37, of Bar Harbor, for alleged operating without a license pursuant to a motor vehicle stop. He was also given citations and warnings for other traffic infractions.
The police department took a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway on Albert Meadow. The complainant called back and stated that the vehicle had been moved before officers could get there.
An officer spoke with a local business owner regarding suspicious activity.
Officer Payson responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the downtown area but could not locate the subjects or the vehicle that they were reported to have been in.
An officer gave a Mount Desert resident a ride back to their residence from MDI Hospital.

Officer Chris Dickens took a report of a vehicle speeding on Main Street.
Ryan Messinger, no age given, of Dedham, was operating a 2017 Ford F-350 on Route 3 when a deer ran out in front of him. There were no reported injuries, but the truck suffered disabling damage and had to be towed away.
An officer responded to the area of Norway Drive for a report of gunshots, but he could not locate the source.
Officer Dickens assisted the fire department with a medical call at a local business.

A found wallet was turned into the police department and the owner was contacted.
Officer Judson Cake gave an individual a ride from Otter Creek to Bar Harbor.
Officer Stanwood took a report of lost property.
Officer Tim Bland investigated a report of a traffic light out.
Officer Stanwood warned two individuals for disorderly conduct following a road rage incident.
Following a traffic stop, Officer Stanwood summonsed Nolan Dickens, 21, of Bangor, for alleged operating after suspension.
As part of an ongoing investigation, officers served search warrants on both May 3 and May 4 at multiple locations. As a result of the search warrants, several items were seized as evidence.

Officer Amie Torrey performed a well-being check on a woman at a family member’s request.
After receiving a report of two individuals being intoxicated and harassing staff at a local business, Officer Stanwood warned both of the individuals for disorderly conduct.

The police department received a report of a motor vehicle being operated erratically. The responding officer could not locate the vehicle.
MDI Hospital requested that the police department issue a no trespass warning to an individual. That person was served the no trespass warning later the same day.
Sgt. Leigh Guildford handled a parking issue at a local business.
Officer Stanwood fingerprinted a subject for a background check at the subject’s request.
Officer Elias Burne assisted another agency.
Officer Burne helped a subject locate their lost cell phone.

Officer Liam Harrington warned a group of local students for criminal trespass.
Officer Harrington provided an intoxicated individual a ride to their residence.
Officer Caleb Mora responded to a motor vehicle complaint, located the suspect vehicle and observed it being operated. Officer Mora could detect no traffic violations being committed.
After responding to a motor vehicle complaint, Officer Theodore Cake arrested Donna Benway, 61, of Brewer and Old Orchard Beach, for alleged operating under the influence.
Officers responded to a request from the Ellsworth Police Department to try and locate a vehicle that they had been involved in a pursuit with. Bar Harbor officers could not locate the suspect vehicle.

Officers handled an intown barking dog complaint.
Elizabeth Kahn, 17, of Lamoine, was operating a 2022 Chevy Blazer southbound on Route 102 and was allegedly attempting to make a left-hand turn into the Salisbury’s Hardware parking lot. Lauren Shirley, 38, of Trenton, was operating a 2020 Kia Optima northbound on Route 102 and allegedly could not avoid the turning vehicle of Kahn. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene. Neither operator was reportedly injured but both were checked by ambulance personnel.
Officer Burne checked on the well-being of an individual.
Officers handled a dog complaint.
Officer Dickens took a report of possible theft and/or fraud and is investigating the complaint.

Kellie Hoffart, 46, of Ellsworth was operating a 2019 Honda CRV eastbound on Cromwell Harbor Road when a deer exited the wood line and ran into the driver’s side front fender. The vehicle sustained minor damage and there were no reported injuries.

Following a motor vehicle stop, Officer Mora seized a fictitious vehicle certificate. The registered owner of the motor vehicle will be issued a criminal summons for this offense.
Officer Harrington provided a ride to a resident of Bar Harbor.
Officer Harrington handled a noise complaint.
Jennifer L. Horne, 61, of Waynesboro, Georgia, was operating a 2015 Ford F-150 southbound on Route 3 when a deer allegedly entered the roadway in front of the vehicle. The crash was not reported until Horne had made it to work in Bar Harbor.
Officer Judson Cake gave a subject a ride to the subject’s vehicle.
Sgt. Guildford responded to a complaint of a GEM low-speed vehicle operating on Eagle Lake Road close to Eagle Lake and allegedly holding up traffic. Sgt. Guildford initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and waited with the occupants until a GEM representative arrived and escorted them into Acadia National Park.
Sgt. Guildford responded to a medical complaint for a subject who had fallen outside. Sgt. Guildford assisted until the ambulance arrived and then assisted with loading the subject into the ambulance.
Paul Bodner, 65, of Southwest Harbor, was operating a 2017 Hyundai westbound on the Eagle Lake Road when a deer entered the roadway in front of Bodner’s vehicle. The vehicle sustained moderate damage and there were no reported injuries.
Michael Kelley, 65, of Lamoine, was operating a 2011 Kia Sorrento westbound on Mount Desert Street when Kelley’s vehicle allegedly struck a previously and legally parked 2016 GMC Acadia last operated by Kristie Mosher, 68, of Largo, Florida. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and Kelley’s vehicle was towed away. Kelley was not injured and the other vehicle had no passengers. Kelley was arrested for alleged operating under the influence at the scene of the crash.
