BAR HARBOR—The MDI YMCA welcomes local author Richard Wile to coffee and conversation at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 20. He will speak about his latest book, The Geriatric Pilgrim: Tales from the Journey. This free program will be held in person.
In The Geriatric Pilgrim, Richard Wile explores how making physical pilgrimages helped him see that his life itself has been a pilgrimage, one that began in his hometown of Yarmouth. He writes, "Trying to look at this time in my life with the same curiosity I’d had when making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem or San Francisco’s City Lights Book Store turned out to be uncomfortable at times, but also transforming, giving me hope, not only for my future, but for my grandchildren’s futures as well.”
Richard Wile is a retired high school English teacher from MDI high school and writing consultant at Bates College who has published essays, stories, reviews, and poetry in several magazines. An earlier novel, Requiem in Stones, was published in 2016.
