BAR HARBOR—St. Saviour’s Downeast Summer Music Series wraps up on Tuesday, August 25, with local musician Gordon Falt performing from 5 - 6 pm.
Gordon Falt, best known as the front man for The Somes Sound seamlessly blends organic instruments with a genre-defying vibe that is both familiar and refreshingly exciting.
His boundary-pushing hybrid sound features rock’n’oll and traditional country music fueled by enthusiasm, rebellion and self-reflective psychological depth.
With a voice that floats around melodies with “fever dream” quality, his lead and rhythm guitar playing collide with great precision.
Falt’s live shows are loose, rakish, and bursting with ragged energy. Rather than chasing polished pop perfection, he captures artistic re-invention over commercial predictability, with a romantic yearning for simpler times.
St. Saviour’s Summer Music Series is weekly, free music series features local artists performing a variety genres -- folk, acoustic rock, country, blues, pop, originals and standards. A throwback to the 1960s folk music movement when churches opened their doors to emerging music, all concerts take place in the historic and beautiful sanctuary of St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church in downtown Bar Harbor.
