Hey! It’s Shaun and Carrie here with a personal note.
Gasp! A personal note sent on a newspaper platform! Isn’t that breaking all the rules? Yes. Yes, it is. But we need to do it. It’s important.
This past week or so has been super humbling for us. We reached out because we really want to make The Bar Harbor Story continue to work the way it is (no paywalls, daily local news, community-focused features) without becoming personally destitute. That was hard because our personality types are terrible at asking for help.
But you all? You really came through.
We shouldn’t have been surprised.
People have been coming through for us and The Bar Harbor Story since this was just a tiny spark of an idea. You comment. You share. You send us thoughts. You send us story ideas. You tell other people about us. You let us into your lives and your inboxes.
And that? That’s pretty much the biggest gift of all.
Thank you for being here with us. Thank you for telling us when you notice a typo! Thank you for forgiving us when we mess up. And thank you so much when you let us know that we’ve done something well, too. That kindness means everything to us. Thank you for being a part of The Story and for being a really big part of our lives, too.
The Story isn’t just us. It’s you, too. You really are The Story. Thank you.
We hope you have the best of holidays.
Shaun and Carrie
I spend summers in Bass Harbor, but I am glad to see local new thriving, I hope. I subscribed to your site after a recommendation on the Quietside Journal. Appreciate your good work.
Carrie and Shaun- unusually clear and informative reporting and often results of some objective investigating- so impressive.
Thank you both for bringing some clarity to Bar Harbor issues that so often seem to me to be quite complex to unravel.
Please keep it up
