In the context of Bar Harbor unmet infrastructure needs being 'a ticking time bomb' and Bar Harbor's debt, Bar Harbor residents should know why and how BH Town Manager Kevin Sutherland diverted Public Works resources - time, labor, materials, funds - by directing Highway Division crews to erase specific chalked messages from sidewalks and roads. These messages were protected by the First Amendment and compliant with the Maine Criminal Code; BHTM Sutherland had no legitimate business having them erased. We should know about BHTM Sutherland's prioritization process and how much it has cost Bar Harbor residents, so far.

BHTM Sutherland's use of public resources to serve a private agenda is at odds with the law and an obstacle to providing Bar Harbor residents with the essential government services they are taxed for. The Bar Harbor Town Council needs to make a full public accounting of the Town Manager's campaign of threats, misinformation, and erasure regarding the "google Leonard Leo = corrupt courts" public outreach project. For both ethical and practical purposes.
