BAR HARBOR—According to the Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department press releases, someone turned a wallet in to the Bar Harbor Police Department that they had found in Bar Harbor.
While trying to identify the owner of the wallet, Officer Troy Stanwood found two fake identification cards and when the owner of the wallet, Mia Jones, 20, of Virginia, retrieved her lost wallet, she was issued a civil summons for alleged possession of a fake I.D.
The rest of her property, minus the two I.D. cards, was returned to her.

Sgt. Doug Brundrett performed a taxi inspection in Bar Harbor.
While on patrol, Officer Kevin Edgecomb located a motorist whose vehicle had broken down at the traffic lights at the head of the island. Officer Edgcomb was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road while the driver was making calls to obtain assistance.
A Mount Desert business reported some information to the police department.
A suspicious item was found in Bar Harbor. Officer Caleb Mora is investigating the incident.
Following a parking complaint in Bar Harbor, Officer Stanwood issued Joesph Kelley, 35, of Portland, a citation for alleged operating after suspension.
Officer Stanwood responded to a report of gunshots in the area of Norway Drive and Eagle Lake Road in Bar Harbor and determined that the source of the noise was a homeowner shooting at coyotes in their yard.

Sgt. Jerrod Hardy fingerprinted someone in Bar Harbor for employment purposes.
Officer Edgecomb took a parking complaint in the area of the Asticou Inn in Northeast Harbor, called the site project manager, and was able to get the problem vehicles moved.
Someone reported a road rage incident that occurred in Bar Harbor to Officer Stanwood but only wanted the incident documented.

Sgt. Soren Sundberg responded to a report of suspicious activity in Bar Harbor and after looking into the matter determined that there was no criminal activity.
Officer Shelby O’Neil responded to a report that an oxygen tank in Mount Desert appeared to be leaking. The tank was found to be functioning normally.
Officer Liam Harrington took a report of attempted fraud in Mount Desert. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Harrington responded to a report of a vehicle off the road in Bar Harbor. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Sundberg investigated a report of a stone chair on the Shore Path in Bar Harbor that needs repair. The chair is on private property and is not a town maintenance issue.
Sgt. Chris Dickens checked on a residential property in Bar Harbor at the owner’s request and found everything to be fine.

Officer Justin Burnett assisted a Bar Harbor resident home.
Officer O’Neil took a vehicle complaint in Bar Harbor and moved the offending vehicle along.
Sgt. Sundberg removed a large tree form the roadway in Mount Desert and notified DOT of the tree.
Officer O’Neil was flagged down by someone in Bar Harbor to do a well-being check on someone else and found them to be all set.
Someone in Bar Harbor reported to Officer O’Neil that someone else owed them money and Officer O’Neil found this to be a civil issue.
Officer O’Neil assisted someone in Bar Harbor with starting the process for obtaining a protection order.
Officer O’Neil responded to a complaint of someone parked in a private driveway in Bar Harbor and blocking the resident’s vehicle. After failed attempts at contacting the owner of the offending vehicle, the vehicle was towed.
Officer O’Neil responded to a report of two loose horses in Bar Harbor. The horses were captured and returned to their owner.
Sgt. Dickens responded to a request to locate someone in Bar Harbor on behalf of a roadside assistance company. Sgt. Dickens located the person and found them to be all set.
Sgt. Dickens took a report of a vehicle being parked on private property in Mount Desert but the complainant said that they will address the issue themselves.
Officer Burnett responded to a motor vehicle complaint in Mount Desert but could not locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer Burnett performed a security check at the MDI High School.
Officer Kaleb Payson responded to a noise complaint at a Bar Harbor business and found the complaint to be unsubstantiated.

Officers assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department with a structure fire in Bar Harbor.
A lost dog was found in Mount Desert. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Mora took a report from someone in Bar Harbor who was reporting an issue at a residence that they had rented. Officer Mora determined that it was not a law enforcement issue and referred them to the landlord.

Officers responded to a dispute at a Bar Harbor hotel and the parties were separated for the night.
A 17-year-old from Bar Harbor was driving a 2014 Subaru Outback east on Eagle Lake Road in Bar Harbor when they allegedly lost control of the Subaru and it left the roadway to the left, striking an embankment and several stones before coming to rest. There were no reported injuries but the vehicle suffered extensive front-end damage.
Sgt. Brundrett spoke with a woman in Mount Desert about a civil issue.
Officer O’Neil responded to a report of a vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant in Mount Desert, but the vehicle was gone upon her arrival.
Officer Payson assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department with a medical call in Bar Harbor.

Sgt. Dickens responded to a report of a disorderly person in the area of First National Bank in Bar Harbor, but the person was gone when he arrived.
Someone reported a dog left in a car on Main Street in Bar Harbor and was concerned that the dog was hot. A parking enforcement officer checked on the dog and found it not to be in distress.
Someone reported three young men drinking and smoking in the dugouts at the Bar Harbor ball fields on Park Street. The reporting party also said that the young men had broken a bottle in the dugout. Officers could not locate the men.
Officer Burnett took a noise complaint regarding someone playing loud music on Main Street in Bar Harbor. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Payson assisted someone whose vehicle had broken down in Bar Harbor.

Officer Rick Graham took a report of a tractor trailer striking another vehicle at a Southwest Harbor hotel and causing minor damage.
Officer Graham responded to a residential alarm in Southwest Harbor and determined that it was a false alarm set off by mistake.
Officer Graham responded to a report of drug paraphernalia at a Tremont park, located the item, and disposed of it safely.
Officer Graham is investigating a report by a construction flagger that they were almost hit by a vehicle with an out-of-state license plate on Main Street in Southwest Harbor six hours prior to making the report.
Officer Graham spoke to a Southwest Harbor resident about a civil issue.

Officer Roulet received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver heading to Southwest Harbor from Bar Harbor and waited at the town line but never saw the vehicle pass by.

Officer Roulet responded to a complaint of vehicles partially blocking the road on High Road in Southwest Harbor and was able to get the owners to move their vehicles.
A Southwest Harbor resident reported a runaway child, but the child returned home on their own.
Officer Graham investigated a reported vehicle crash at a Tremont business and found the damage to be very minor.
Officer Graham performed a security check at the Tremont Consolidated School and found an unlocked door. The door was secured and the caretaker notified of the incident.
The Southwest Harbor Fire Department received a residential fire alarm but the alarm was cancelled by the alarm company while the fire department was still responding.

An officer responded to a loose dog complaint in Southwest Harbor but was unable to locate the dog.
While visiting Pemetic Elementary School, Officer Kamorski had a juvenile report that they were having problems with another juvenile. Office Kamorski spoke with everyone involved and was able to resolve the issue.

Officers from the Southwest Harbor Police Department took part in the Memorial Day parade and ceremony.
An officer responded to a motor vehicle complaint in Southwest Harbor but was unable to locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer Roulet responded to a complaint regarding trash in a dumpster in Tremont and was able to facilitate a conversation between the involved people.

Fire Marshal’s Office Investigates Fatal Fire in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD—On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 3:56 p.m., the Pittsfield police and fire departments responded to a reported structure fire at 111 Cardinal Street. Once the fire was suppressed, fire crews located a deceased individual inside the residence.
The Office of State Fire Marshal was called to the scene, which is standard protocol in the event of a fatal fire. The deceased was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed to determine positive identification. The individual has been tentatively identified as 58-year-old Gili Brown. Mrs. Brown lived at the residence.
Investigators determined the origin and cause of the fire to be an overloaded power strip.
Maine State Police Arrests Hermon Man in Connection to Computer Crimes Investigation
HERMON—On May 23, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit arrested 42-year-old Aaron Pinette, of Hermon, in connection to an ongoing investigation.
He was taken into custody at his residence in Hermon and then transported to the Penobscot County Jail.
Pinette has been charged with possession of sexually explicit materials. This remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
