Four Vehicle Crash in Bar Harbor Results in Complaint of Injury

BAR HARBOR—On March 26, Bar Harbor police responded to a four-car accident in Hulls Cove. According to the weekly Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department’s press release, Gabrielle Wellman, 67, of Blue Hill, was driving a 2021 Toyota RAV4 and was facing north on Route 3, near the intersection with Ocean Avenue, stopped behind another vehicle that was stopped and waiting to turn left.
Dantae Cross, 24, of Ellsworth was driving a 2009 Chevy Malibu and was behind Wellman and had come to a stop.
Michael Martin, 54, of Georgetown, Maine, who was driving a 2024 Dodge Ram 3500 with an attached trailer, also northbound, allegedly failed to “give proper and safe distance” and struck the Malibu which then struck the RAV4.
Tara Parker, 46, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2020 Chevy Equinox, also northbound, and was unable to stop in time and struck the rear of the trailer that was being pulled by the Dodge Ram.
Wellman reported neck pain at the scene but was evaluated by EMS personnel at the scene and was not transported by ambulance. There were no other reported injuries. The RAV4 suffered rear end damage, the Malibu was towed from the scene; the Dodge Ram suffered front end damage, and the Equinox suffered front end damage.

Someone reported being concerned for someone else who was on the ice on Upper Hadlock Pond in Mount Desert. Officer Elias Burne was able to locate an ice fisherman who was standing near one of his traps and all set.
Sgt. Brundrett spoke with a Bar Harbor business manager in regard to theft prevention strategies.
Officer Zack Kline assisted a motorist whose vehicle had broken down on Sound Drive in Mount Desert.
Officer Troy Stanwood took a report of someone’s dog getting loose in Bar Harbor. No further information or disposition was given.

Officer Stanwood spoke with someone in Bar Harbor about a civil issue.
The Bar Harbor Police and Fire Departments responded to a business on Eden Street in Bar Harbor for someone who was believed to be in distress. After checking on the person, it was determined that they did not need assistance from either agency.
An officer performed a well-being check on someone in downtown Bar Harbor and determined that they did not need any assistance.
Sgt. Soren Sundberg responded to a report of a dead animal on the side of the road in Mount Desert, but the animal was gone when he arrived.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett completed two taxi inspections in Bar Harbor.
After responding to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence in downtown Bar Harbor, Sgt. Jerrod Hardy arrested Michael L. Muldrow, 27, of Bar Harbor, for alleged violation of conditions of release. Muldrow was transported to the Hancock County Jail.

After receiving a parking complaint in Mount Desert, Officer Amie Torrey checked the area and determined that the vehicle was not a traffic hazard.
Courtney D. Pike, 32, of Gouldsboro, was driving a 2020 Cadillac SUV and was stopped and waiting to turn left off Village Park Road and onto Route 102 in Mount Desert. There was a line of traffic due to construction and Pike was allegedly waved through by a motorist sitting in the line of traffic before she pulled out, and struck a 2020 Chrysler van that was being driven by Diane O. Clark, 69, of Trenton. There was no reported injury. The Cadillac suffered damage to the passenger’s side rear door and the Chrysler suffered damage to the driver’s side front corner.
Sgt. Sundberg conducted a taxi inspection in Bar Harbor.
Officer Torrey took a complaint about issues with kids at the MDI YMCA. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Sundberg performed a well-being check in Mount Desert and found the person to be okay.

Sgt. Chris Dickens and Officer Burne responded to a report of a motorist having a medical event in Somesville. No further information or disposition was given.
Officer Torrey summoned Thomas Thompson, 20, of Deer Isle and Jonah Brages, 19, of Stonington, for alleged illegal possession of liquor by a minor in Bar Harbor.
Officer Stanwood is investigating a report of a road rage incident in Bar Harbor.
After receiving a motor vehicle complaint from an off-duty officer in Hulls Cove, Officer Stanwood was able to locate the vehicle and the driver was warned for multiple moving violations.

Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Nathan Formby summoned Natalie Blaser, 20, of Utah, for alleged criminal speed.
Someone made a delayed noise complaint to Officer Ted Cake in Mount Desert and Officer Cake advised the person to make the complaint while the noise is occurring.
Someone reported bank fraud in Bar Harbor. The victim was advised on how to proceed and further security precautions that they can take in the future.
Lt. Kevin Edgecomb participated in career day at MDI High School.
A registered sex offender who lives in Bar Harbor updated the Bar Harbor Police Department on their personal information.
Officer Caleb Mora took a report of illegal overnight camping in Bar Harbor but the complaint was unsubstantiated due to the fact that the vehicle was not a residential camper and the owner had permission to park the vehicle where it was.
Officer Mora investigated a reported residential theft in Mount Desert and determined that no theft had actually occurred.
After performing a traffic stop on a vehicle that was traveling 80 mph in a 45 mph zone, Officer Mora summoned Andrew Brages, 47, of Blue Hill, for alleged operating without a license, alleged operating after suspension, and issued a civil infraction for alleged speeding.
Sgt. Dickens responded to a report of a wandering cow in Town Hill but could not locate the cow.
Someone called the Mount Desert Police Department to report receiving scam phone calls. The dispatcher gave the caller some resource information and the caller advised that no personal information had been given out.
Officer Stanwood investigated a possible violation of a court order in Bar Harbor and determined that no violation had occurred.

Officers responded to the scene of a non-reportable crash in Bar Harbor.
A currently separated couple from Bar Harbor asked Officer Mora for advice on how to remain amicable.
Sgt. Brundrett responded to a trespassing complaint at an Otter Creek residence and spoke with both people involved.
Officer T. Cake responded to a report of a deceased person at a residence in Bar Harbor. It was deemed that there was nothing suspicious about the death.
Officer Kline responded to a barking dog complaint in Bar Harbor and spoke with the dog’s owner.

Following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, Officer Shelby O’Neil arrested Liam Turner, 25, of Biddeford, for alleged operating under the influence. Turner was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
Officer Mora was responding to a requested well-being check in Mount Desert but the request was cancelled prior to his arrival.
Rodney Miller, 65, of Tremont, was driving a 2024 GMC Sierra on Main Street in Mount Desert when he struck a turkey in the roadway. There were no human injuries and the truck suffered front grill damage.

Anthony Preston-Schreck, 50, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 2023 Ford pickup south on Sound Drive in Mount Desert when a deer stepped in front of the truck and the Preston-Schrek was unable to stop in time to avoid striking it. There was no reported human injury. The truck suffered damage to the front end.
Officer Kaleb Payson provided a ride to someone in Bar Harbor.
SOUTHWEST HARBOR AND TREMONT

Sgt. Ryan Blakeney performed a school visit at Pemetic Elementary School in Southwest Harbor.
A Southwest Harbor resident reported attempted identity theft to the Southwest Harbor Police Department
A Southwest Harbor automotive repair shop called the police department and said that someone had dropped a vehicle off at their business and they did not know why. The complainant called back a short time later and reported that they had figured it out.
Sgt. Blakeny was responding to a report of a vehicle that had broken down on a Southwest Harbor road, but the vehicle was towed prior to Sgt. Blakeney’s arrival.
Sgt. Blakeney assisted with a medical call in Southwest Harbor.
Sgt. Blakeney conducted a well-being check in Southwest Harbor and found the person to be all set.

Officer Graham responded to a report of an unsecured building in Southwest Harbor that was undergoing renovations and secured the building after searching it and not having any contact information for the owner.

Remains Found in Lewiston Identified
LEWISTON—The Maine State Police, through DNA analysis at the State Police Crime Laboratory, have identified the remains found in the Garcelon Bog at the end of Russell Street in Lewiston on January 25, 2025, as Michael Roberts, 68, of Lewiston.
Mr. Roberts was reported missing in November of 2019 to the Lewiston Police Department after wandering off from a Bartlett Street residence. State Police Major Crimes-South assisted with the recovery of the human remains and identification. It's important to note that the death is not considered suspicious.
State Police Makes Homicide Arrest in South Berwick
SOUTH BERWICK—On March 22, at approximately 8:44 p.m., the South Berwick Police Department received a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute with shots fired at 48 Brattle Street. Jeremiah Godfrey, 43 years old, called 911 and reported that he had an argument with his girlfriend, Sherri Sweet, 37 years old.
Godfrey described a struggle over the gun, and Sweet sustained a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. First responders arrived on the scene and rendered aid. Sweet was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The South Berwick Police Department requested the assistance of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South. The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit-South responded and continued to investigate the circumstances, with the assistance of the South Berwick Police Department.
Sherri Sweet was pronounced deceased on March 23, 2025, at 10:15 p.m. The New Hampshire Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy on March 24, 2025, and advised the cause and manner of death. The immediate cause is a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death is homicide.
On March 26, 2025, the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South applied for and obtained a warrant for murder. Jeremiah Godfrey was arrested at approximately 12:00 p.m. in the town of South Berwick and subsequently transported to the York County Jail.
The Maine State Police would like to thank all of the first responders who assisted with the investigation, include, but not limited to, the South Berwick Police Department, the York Ambulance rescue personnel, the South Berwick Fire Department, the Elliot Police Department, the North Berwick Police Department, and the Berwick Police Department.
State Police Makes Arson Arrest in Mechanic Falls
MECHANIC FALLS—On March 25, 2025, at approximately 5 p.m., Maine State Fire Marshal investigators were requested by Mechanic Falls Police and responded to a structure fire at a multi-family building on Pleasant St.
After conducting a scene examination, fire investigators determined the fire was incendiary.
Resident and co-owner, Daniel Field, age 30, was arrested and charged with arson and failing to maintain or control a dangerous fire. The investigation continues, and the Mechanic Falls Police and Fire Department are assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office.
State Police Investigate Falmouth Spur roll-over
FALMOUTH—At approximately 1:55 p.m., troopers responded to a tractor trailer roll-over on I-495 westbound, (Falmouth spur) at the merge with the exit 11 off-ramp from I0295. The preliminary investigation showed that the driver, Mohammed Mohammed Abdallah, 25, of Nebraska, lost control of the truck as he exited exit 11 on I-295 merging onto the spur. The truck struck a guardrail to the left and rolled over onto its side blocking both travel lanes. The driver was transported by Falmouth Rescue to Maine Medical Center in Portland with non-life-threatening injuries.
All westbound access points to the Falmouth Spur were blocked off to avoid a traffic backup. The truck was hauling approximately 45,000 pounds of paper products.
Troop I troopers investigating the crash were assisted by Troop G (turnpike), the MSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, DOT, DEP, Falmouth Fire & Rescue, and Copp Motors.
The driver of the truck was issued two summonses for violations from the Commercial Vehicle Unit.
State Police Investigate Three Vehicle Crash on Interstate 95
PITTSFIELD—At 4:05 p.m., troopers responded to a multiple vehicle crash northbound on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield. A tractor trailer truck, operated by Serhii Milchecko, 47, of Nova Scotia was traveling in the travel lane and was rear-ended by a Kia sedan, operated by 17-year-old from Winslow.
A Chevrolet Malibu, operated by 35-year-old Desiree Chenette, of Lincoln, then struck the rear of the Kia. Both sedans sustained significant damage. Both the juvenile and Chenette were treated by EMS and released at the scene.
State Police remind all motorist to drive distraction-free and maintain a safe following distance between your vehicle and others to ensure a safer road for everyone.
State Police Arrest Man for Sexually Explicit Material
GUILFORD—Mason Mickie, 23, of Guilford was arrested and charged with one count of possession of sexually explicit material in reference to an on-going investigation by the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit. The case has been referred to the Piscataquis County District Attorney’s Office.
Fire Marshal’s Office Investigates Suspicious Fire
PRESQUE ISLE—On March 31, 2025, at approximately 8:21 a.m., the Office of State Fire Marshal was called to assist the Presque Isle Police and Fire Departments with a suspicious vehicle fire located in a field in the town of Mapleton.
