Franklin Man Arrested for OUI Twice in Less Than 24 Hours
BAR HARBOR—On Saturday, November 30, at approximately 11:42 p.m., according to Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Police Department’s weekly press release, following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor by Officer Lukas Keene, Raymond Robledo, 56, of Franklin, was arrested for alleged operating under the influence. Robledo was transported to the Hancock County Jail.
The following day, Sunday, December 1, at approximately 7:49 p.m., again following a traffic stop in Bar Harbor, this time by Officer Nathan Formby, Robledo was arrested for alleged operating under the influence and additionally charged with alleged operating without a license and alleged violation of conditions of release. Robledo was again transported to the Hancock County Jail.

Officer Zack Kline responded to a report of an injured deer on Eden Street in Bar Harbor. The deer was dispatched and given to someone on the deer call list for their use.
Officer Kline documented a report of a light shining through the window of a Bar Harbor residence during the night.
The Bar Harbor Police Department took a motor vehicle complaint on Route 102 in Bar Harbor which was passed on to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department because officers could not locate it before it headed off the island.
Officer Keene assisted a motorist whose vehicle was stuck on the sand bar in Bar Harbor.

After receiving a complaint regarding a civil landlord/tenant issue, Officer Amie Torrey referred a man in Bar Harbor to the court for paperwork.
Sgt. Doug Brundrett completed a VIN number verification for a Bar Harbor business.
A Mount Desert man spoke with an officer regarding harassment that occurred at a local business.
Officer Torrey took a trespassing complaint from a Bar Harbor business.

Officer Ted Cake fingerprinted someone at the Bar Harbor Police Department.
Officer Torrey received a complaint regarding an open shed door at a Bar Harbor residence. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Soren Sundberg is investigating a reported assault. No further information or disposition was given.
Sgt. Sundberg spoke with a woman in Bar Harbor who was having mental health issues. She will be seeking further treatment in the next few days.
Officer T. Cake provided a ride to someone in Bar Harbor.
A Mount Desert resident called the police department about their neighbor’s trash being all over the road due to birds getting into it. Officer Kline called the trash owner who said that they would clean it up.
Officer T. Cake assisted the Bar Harbor Fire Department with a report of a fire somewhere south of Gorham Mountain. The fire was located and determined to be a permitted burn in Bar Harbor.
Officer Kline received a motor vehicle complaint regarding a motor vehicle in Somesville that was heading towards the head of the island. Officer Kline was out of position and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department was notified.

Sgt. Chris Dickens assisted a Hancock County Sheriff’s deputy who was conducting a traffic stop in Trenton.
Office Keene responded to MDI Hospital to investigate a report of a dog bite.
Someone made a noise complaint in Bar Harbor, but Officer T. Cake could not locate the source of the noise.
Someone reported to the Bar Harbor Police Departmentthat they had lost their passport.
Brian G. Norton, 51, of Bar Harbor was driving a 2020 Subaru west on Sound Drive in Mount Desert when he slowed down for a skunk crossing the roadway. Caroline A. Keller, 23, of Mount Desert, was driving a 2016 Subaru behind Norton and allegedly was not paying complete attention and could not slow down in time to avoid hitting Norton’s vehicle. There was no reported personal injury and both vehicles suffered minor damage to their respective bumpers.

Officer Kline responded to a report of a vehicle off the road, due to icy conditions, on the Crooked Road in Bar Harbor. There was no reported injury and no damage to the vehicle which was towed back onto the roadway.
Officer Formby conducted a well-being check on someone in Bar Harbor and found them to be fine.

Officer Troy Stanwood assisted the Mount Desert Fire Department with a medical call in Mount Desert.
Sgt. Brundrett and Officer Stanwood made a death notification to someone in Bar Harbor at the request of the Portland, Maine police department.
Sgt. Brundrett responded to a Bar Harbor residence to check on the welfare of a woman and a child, made contact with both of them, and determined them to be fine.
Officer Stanwood attempted to locate someone in Mount Desert with an active arrest warrant but could not locate them.
Officers transferred evidence to Portland for destruction.
John Weart, 81, of Bradley, Maine, was driving a 2020 Toyota Corolla south on Main Street in Bar Harbor when he struck the newly installed curbing and the vehicle came to rest on top of the curbing. There was no reported personal injury. The vehicle sustained damage to the front passenger side tire and rim, the front fender, and the undercarriage and was towed by Acadia Towing.
Officer Stanwood attempted to locate a reported erratic driver in Bar Harbor but could not locate the suspect vehicle.
Officer Stanwood assisted the Mount Desert Fire Department on a medical call.
The owner of a Bar Harbor business requested that the occupants of two vehicles that were parked in the business’s parking lot be issued trespass warnings for the property, but the vehicles were gone when Sgt. Jerrod Hardy arrived.

Chief Hall responded to a report of a vehicle parked at the end of a dead-end road in Tremont and a woman sitting on a rock. The complainant thought that this was suspicious because they did not recognize the vehicle or the woman. Both the woman and the vehicle were gone when Chief Hall arrived.
After the Southwest Harbor Police Department received several 911 calls with children laughing in the background, Chief Hall was able to make contact with the parent and solve the problem.

After receiving a report of a vehicle that had been parked at a Southwest Harbor business for a few weeks, Chief Hall was able to make contact with the vehicle’s owner who advised that he works there and parks in the same spot every day.
Someone walked into the Southwest Harbor Police Department and said that they wanted to turn themselves in. After speaking with Chief Hall, it became apparent that the person was suffering from a mental health issue. Chief Hall transported the person to the emergency room for a crisis evaluation.
Officer Bradley Russell responded to a report of a person in Southwest Harbor who has dementia and is seeing people. Officer Russell spoke with the person and determined that they were all set.
Officer Russell spoke with someone in Southwest Harbor regarding some property that had been taken by another person. Officer Russell then informed both parties involved that this was a civil issue and went over some options to remediate the situation with them.

After receiving a 911 call, Officer Russell spoke with the caller in Southwest Harbor, who has dementia. Officer Russell then spoke with a family member of the person with dementia to inform them of what has been going on.

A Tremont resident called the Southwest Harbor Police Department in the morning to report that they had heard multiple gunshots during the night. Chief Hall passed the information on to the Maine Warden Service.
Chief Hall investigated a report of possible vandalism to a headstone at a Southwest Harbor cemetery. Chief Hall determined that the headstone appeared to have been possibly moved by groundskeeping equipment through accidental contact. The family will contact the cemetery to have the headstone moved back into place.
After receiving a report of someone with dementia walking on the road in Southwest Harbor, Chief Hall was able to locate the person and take them back home.
Chief Hall responded to a complaint of someone taking video outside of a Southwest Harbor apartment complex. The caller advised Chief Hall that this was an ongoing issue involving a previous tenant. By the time Chief Hall arrived at the apartment complex, the video taker’s vehicle was gone.
Officer Russell spoke with someone at the Southwest Harbor Police Department regarding ongoing health issues with a family member. Officer Russell advised the person of some options that were available to them.
Officer Russell responded to a residence in Southwest Harbor because the caller thought that someone was inside their home. This is an ongoing mental health issue and nobody was located in the home after Officer Russell checked.

MDEA Makes Five Drug Trafficking Arrests in Western, South Central, and Mid-Coast Maine
MAINE—For the past several months, agents from the Western, South Central, and Mid-Coast District Task Forces have been conducting an investigation into the illegal drug trafficking conducted by Christian Sanchez Ortega, 22, of Manhattan, New York, Jared Campbell, 21, of Staten Island, New York, and Jordan Campbell, 20, of Manhattan, New York. Agents were able to conduct surveillance, undercover purchases of drugs, and executed 3 search warrants over the past week in Chesterville, Waldoboro, and Windsor, Maine with the assistance of the Maine State Police Tactical Team, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, and the Waldoboro Police Department.
The result of this investigation led to the seizure of 72 grams of Fentanyl, 15 grams of cocaine base, 2 loaded handguns, and suspected drug proceeds which included recorded buy money. A vehicle was also seized that was wanted in New York for a shooting that occurred in New York City.
Arrested were:
Jared Campbell, 21, of Staten Island, New York, was arrested on one count of trafficking schedule “W” drugs class B. Bail was set at $2,500.00 cash bail. Campbell was able to post bail.
Christian Sanchez Ortega, 22, of Manhattan, New York, was arrested on two counts of aggravated trafficking schedule “W” drugs class A and one count of unlawful trafficking schedule “W” drugs. Bail was set at $10,000. Ortega is currently being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta
Jordan Campbell, 20, of Manhattan, New York, was arrested on one count of unlawful trafficking Schedule “W’ drugs class B. Bail was set at $10,000 cash bail. Campbell is currently being held at the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta.
Lacey Dougher, 36, of Chesterville, Maine, was arrested on four outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear. No bail was allowed for Dougher and she is currently held at the Franklin County Jail.
Tim Murray, 44, of Chesterville, Maine, was arrested on one count of trafficking schedule “W” drugs and violation of probation. Murray is held without bail and is currently incarcerated at the Franklin County Jail.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Assisting MDEA in this investigation were representatives from Maine State Police, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office, and Waldoboro Police Department.
MDEA Arrests Lewiston Man on Drug Trafficking Charges
LEWISTON—On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, agents from the MDEA Western District Task Force and officers of the Lewiston Police Department assisted United States Probation and Parole officers with a probation compliance check. The compliance check was for Steven Braggs, 36, of Lewiston, who was on supervised release as part of a 2015 federal sentence for the charge of felon in possession of a firearm.
Agents and officers contacted Braggs at a hotel in Lewiston where 100 grams of cocaine was found in his possession. Braggs was arrested without incident and transported to the Androscoggin Jail where no bail was set due to a probation hold.
Following Braggs arrest, agents drafted and were granted a search warrant for Braggs residence at 114 Wellman Street, Lewiston.
A search resulted in the seizure of nearly two kilos (1,878 grams) of cocaine, trafficking materials, and $25,300 in suspected drug proceeds. The approximate retail value of the seized cocaine is $100,000
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Maine State Police Investigates Two Vehicle Crash on I-295 in Freeport
FREEPORT—On December 2, 2024, at approximately 7:25 a.m., troopers from Troop I responded to a two vehicle crash southbound on I-295 in the town of Freeport near mile 22. The crash involved a 2018 Volkswagen and a 2024 Toyota. The Toyota was going from the right lane to the left lane and struck the Volkswagen. This caused the Volkswagen to go to the left and strike the guardrail. The Toyota rolled onto its roof coming to final rest in the middle of the interstate. The driver of the Toyota was transported by Freeport Rescue to Maine Medical Center in Portland for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen had minor complaint of pain but declined transport. Other than a brief stoppage, traffic was able to get by the scene in a third lane that was a merging lane from the exit 22 on-ramp. Troopers were assisted on scene by Freeport PD, Freeport Fire & Rescue, Maine DOT, and Atlantic Coast Towing.
