As long as the Trump regime is engaged in its lawless campaign of ethnic cleansing, I would be proud to reside in a "sanctuary" city, county or town, real or imagined.
I think the "sanctuary" status of Cumberland and Hanock counties stems from how their jails released illegal immigrants accused of criminal activity previously. I have no idea if that's how they still handle them. See the link after the quote below.
"The Cumberland County and Hancock County jails in Maine were identified by ICE in their June “Detainer Acceptance Tracker” report as two of 146 institutions nationwide that accept immigration detainers in a “limited fashion.”
"According to ICE, this means that the Cumberland County and Hancock County jails honor only half of the immigration detainer — they do take custody of the noncitizens, but do not provide adequate notification of their release in order to arrange for the orderly transfer of noncitizens to ERO custody.
“When law enforcement agencies fail to honor immigration detainers and release serious criminal offenders onto the streets, it undermines ICE’s ability to protect public safety and carry out its mission,” ICE explains in their “Detainers 101” information page."
Overall, we rate The Maine Wire as Right-biased based on its consistent editorial stance and advocacy for a policy that aligns with conservative perspectives. We also rate it Mixed for factual accuracy and questionable due to the promotion of propaganda, conspiracy theories, pseudoscience, and failed fact checks.
Don't shoot the messanger until you check the actual facts presented. It's the intelligent thing to do, especially when media on both sides are prone to selective info.
Another day at the clown show.
