On The Agenda - Bar Harbor Town Meetings & Things to Do
ON THE AGENDA
Every week we document Bar Harbor town government, school, and other similar meetings that we know of. Please let us know if we’ve missed something. Also, sometimes things are on the town calendars and are cancelled or rescheduled, so make sure to double check before you head over!
All the meetings take place at the Bar Harbor Municipal Building at 93 Cottage Street unless otherwise noted. And they usually have a time for public comments. This is not true about executive sessions, which are closed to the public.
So, go! Be informed! Be part of the process. You deserve to be.

Week of October 23 and a little beyond
It’s our weekly round-up, and I may have missed some things so apologies!
To check out our news stories from the past week. Click on the archive section and you’ll see them in chronological order.
GET YOUR CHAMBER CHAT ON!
I’m moderating. Come listen and learn. It’s free. You can be my guest. Just say you’re Carrie’s guest.
GET YOUR EMERGENCY SERVICES BARBECUE ON!
Want to hang out with some police officers, dispatchers, and firefighters?
You have a chance this Saturday.
The Bar Harbor Police Department and the Bar Harbor Fire Department is planning another community BBQ this year on October 28th from 2:30 to 5:30 at the athletic field in Bar Harbor.

GET YOUR GEAR SALE ON!
GET YOUR HALLOWEEN ON!
It’s our round-up of Halloween-related events in Bar Harbor.
COME TO OUR HOUSE ON LEDGELAWN!
Yep, that’s right. We (Carrie and Shaun) will be at 98 Ledgelawn slinging out treats on Halloween night. Come hang out if you feel like it. You can stay, help us disperse candy, have some snacks, or just stop by for a quick second and say hi.
98 Ledgelawn
Halloween afternoon and night.
Or, as we said on Facebook:
We decided to be extroverted and host a Halloween open house/get-together/party.
If you see this? You are invited. YOU DO NOT NEED AN OFFICIAL FACEBOOK INVITE TO COME HANG OUT. Seriously, if you know us? Come over. Stay for a hot second or for hours. It's all good.
So, come hang out! Trick or treat--or not. Make it your Ledgelawn base--or not. Come say hi--or not. Help us pass out candy and play scary tunes--or not. We are so chill. But we'd love to see you.
We'll have some food. Feel free to bring more. We'll have some liquid. Feel free to bring more. But no pressure! Just showing up is cool.
TRICK OR TREAT IN BAR HARBOR!
According to Bar Harbor Police Sgt. Soren Sundberg, “We will be closing down Ledgelawn on October 31 for Halloween. The event is from 4 pm to 8 pm. Road will be closed at 3:30 and planned to reopen around 8:30.”
Road closes to traffic: 3:30 p.m.
Road reopens: 8:30
Trick or treating is from: 4-8
You can trick or treat on other streets, too!

Public · Anyone on or off Facebook
Come carve jack o'lanterns and paint pumpkins to decorate your doorstep for Halloween! ArtWaves supplies the pumpkins. Cider and hot cocoa will be served as we light our jack'o' lanterns, and sit together by the fireside for poetry and storytime inspired by the shifting seasons! Sunday Oct 29-5-7
Storytime sneak peak! We will kick things off with "Song of the Witches" from Shakespeare's MacBeth (copies will be available so we can all read it together!):
"Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Fillet of a fenny snake,
In the caldron boil and bake;
Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg and howlet's wing,
Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Cool it with a baboon's blood,
Then the charm is firm and good.
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble!"
Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
$10 registration fee per person or $20 for families.
Costumes welcome!

TOWN GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
SOUTHWEST HARBOR
Regular Meeting Schedule (meetings held at the Town Office unless otherwise noted). Calendar is here.
TREMONT:
BAR HARBOR:
According to the town’s website, “Meetings that are broadcast live can be viewed at home by watching Cable Access Channel 7 or 1303 (Spectrum Cable only) and online at Town Hall Streams.”
“Things We Do in Bar Harbor” and “On the Agenda” is mostly curated by me looking for things happening in the upcoming week, which takes a lot of time and I truly do not know all that is going on.
If there’s something in Bar Harbor (or MDI) that you’d like me to mention, please let me know, because I’m definitely always missing some events every week.
