Good Morning - Due to the storm, power has still not returned to the Mount Desert Island High School. We will start the day with a 2hr. Delay. If power is not restored by 8am, a message will go out canceling school at that time.
Classes are in session for HCTC students and transportation will be available for them at their normal times.

According to Versant, 624 Bar Harbor customers are still without power. Over 1,000 customers in Mount Desert are impacted; 300 in Southwest Harbor and approximately 100 in Tremont.500 in Trenton and approximately 400 (91%) in Cranberry Isles.
There are no estimated storage times listed.
DECEMBER 18 8: 50 PM UPDATE
There is NO SCHOOL for all MDI schools tomorrow.
There is NO SCHOOL for RSU 24 on Tuesday, December 19th. Be Safe and Ellsworth.
Be VERY careful on the Shore Path in Bar Harbor. There are some massive holes. Thank you for the heads-up Jeremy Dougherty.
The current Versant Power outages (at 8:47 p.m.) has 945 active outages with a total of 79,130 customers affected.
The latest Versant update reads, "4:30 p.m. 12/18/23 Wind and Rain Storm Update
For the safety of our crews in high wind conditions, they will not be going up in buckets to perform work. We are responding to emergency situations, such as downed lines, only at this time.
Please use caution when on roadways as we have numerous reports of lines down and trees on lines. Do not attempt to remove any downed limbs or trees in contact with a downed line.
​The outage map may not reflect all active outages at this time, and we are continuing to work on the issue. Estimated restoration times will be provided when storm conditions subside and damage is assessed. 2:30 UPDATE
Two roads are closed in Acadia due to extreme weather conditions and downed trees: a section of the Park Loop Road known as Ocean Drive, from the intersection with Schooner Head Road to Otter Cliff Road in Bar Harbor; and Schoodic Point Road to Schoodic Point on the Schoodic Peninsula. According to MDI High School Principal Matt Haney, "Due to widespread power outages all after school activities at MDI High School have been canceled today. The building will close as soon as the students leave campus."
Also, all Ellsworth High School activities have been cancelled for tonight.
Sumner High School is having early dismissal.

Versant Power is evaluating initial damage caused by a storm bringing wind and rain to northern and eastern Maine. We expect that ongoing storm conditions will continue to cause damage through the day.
